Anne and Mark
Anne Nygren Doherty (book/lyrics) created the long-running SF hit – Absolutely San Francisco, playing 146 performances at two Union Square venues. Once a protege of legendary Broadway lyricist and composer, Bob Merrill, she founded New Musical Theater of San Francisco to the develop original musical theater by emerging Bay Area talent. Most notably, the award-winning musical play CHANCE, by Richard Isen with direction by Tony Award winner Robert Kalfin. The December 2018 reading of her playThe Most Wonderful Afternoon featured Tony-nominee/Drama Desk winner Veanne Cox, with direction by Gabriel Barre. Though Anne works primarily as a writer, teacher, and story analyst, there was a time she made a living as an actress. In one capacity or another, she has worked with luminaries such as John Belushi, William J. Petersen, John Malkovich, Richard Dreyfus, director Frank Galati, and Pulitzer Prize finalist Milan Stitt.
IMark Mendelson (composer) is a Bay Area-based composer and designer. In addition to GOLDRUSH 2.0, he composed music for THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS, GREENRIDGE: A MASTERPLANNED MUSICAL, and THE AYANA HAMPTON SHOW, which was performed at REDCAT and Bootleg Theatre in Los Angeles and Nuyorican Poets Cafe in New York City. He wrote the music for the award-winning movie-musical ZOMBIE LOVE and a Bravo TV series. He composed and musical directed 15 episodes of the live 1940s-style radio variety show THE HIGH STREET BROADCAST, played piano for live weekly improv shows at Comedy Sportz San Jose for four years, and developed music for an interactive attraction for Disney Imagineering Blue Sky. As a set designer, Mark has created environments for over 100 musicals, winning Bay Area Theatre Critics’ Circle Awards and many nominations.
To get the world excited about the score, Anne and Mark shot three music video in February 2020, taking advantage of San Francisco's amazing locations - such as the Embarcadero Center (above), the Golden Gate Theatre (left), Twin Peaks, Civic Center Plaza, and the Embarcadero.
Michelle Rodriguez played Ashley; Kamryn Mahaney played Josh. Thanks to 42nd Street Moon for use of Moonspace.
